From what I read in the rules for hub pages, it's not allowed and can get you kicked out of the hub pages it you try to sell anything on it. I might be wrong, as I kind of skim over things and read bits and pieces. Don't have time to read every word most of the time.
When I joined Yuwie the rules say that too, but it is almost all advertising once you get inside and learn the ropes. Great place to meet new contacts, and make friends too.
I also do not like to push my sales onto other peoples personal pages, I keep that to my page too. Although I do send private messages when I find a great offer for things I find that can help my friends get more traffic, preferably for Free, and free list builders to grow there list, and free information that can help them grow their business. They can follow the lead or delete it. Most people are struggling, same as me, trying to learn how to make a living marketing online. I know I value every little bit of friendly help I get from friends, and I am sure they do too. If they need it great, if not no harm done. I also try to answer each message I get that is personal,even if it ends in someone trying to sell me something, but Just delete the messages, with out a reply, that are just a sales letter with out so much as a Hello, How are you.
I guess we each have our own rules when it comes to how we market.
I feel that if I treat a customer like a friend, they could be a friend and customer for life because they will remember me when they are looking for something else they think I might have to help them.
If I treat a customer like a Mark, I may get one sale, but I will probably never hear from that person again. Well that's how I do things anyway.
Rainy and cool here today, but the grass is green, cherry trees are in full bloom, and crocus's are croaking all over the place, along with the daffodils.
